Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses problems connected with analyzing recent Polish verbs of foreign origin. These problems very often result from applying different methods of analysis (synchronic vs. diachronic), and – paradoxically – from consistently applying just one research method, as a result of which verbs with identical formal and functional properties are assigned to different classes. The author suggests a new approach to word-formational properties of verbs of action and process, relating them not to semantic componential analysis, but rather to their aspectual properties and the hierarchy of elements important for reflecting the way reality is perceived by the users of language.
