Summary/Abstract: Our approach aims to explore the myth of Don Juan through its particular significances embodied in the main characters of two novels: Nicolae Breban’s Don Juan and Choderlos de Laclos’ Dangerous Liaisons. The Viscount of Valmont and the Marchioness of Merteuil are closer to the archetype of the ruthless seducer, whose only purpose is conquering and spreading their corrupting influence upon innocent victims. Breban’s antihero Rogulski combines temptation which the creative power of unearthing the inner selves of the seduced women, thus liberating them from prejudices.
