Summary/Abstract: The article describes the issue of the doctrine of “the piercing the corporate veil” in Russian law (снятиe корпоративной вуали). The attempt to introduce this doctrine into Russian law – although to a limited extent, has resulted at least from a theoretical and legal point of view – to increase the protection of legal entity’s creditors. Introducing the doctrine into own legal system, the representatives of the Russian legal authorities used English acquis therein, giving common courts the power (arbitration courts previously) to ‘independently’ make a decision in abstract in cases where the doctrine applies. The article discusses the types of ‘piercing the corporate veil’, the legal nature of the doctrine itself in Russian law and the sanctions provided by Russian legislation when the ‘piercing the corporate veil’ shall be applied.
