Primers as a source of language studies research

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to show the wide range of research possibilities that one can obtain from primers from the turn of the 19th and 20th century adressed to the rural children in Pomerania. The main function of those publishers was to prevent the germanization of Polish children through home study of Polish language eradicated from schools. By subjecting those books to numerous different linguistic examinations, describing the structure of there present language, we derive incredibly interesting knowledge about the spelling and orthography that was taught over hundred years ago, about morphology and syntax while the onomastic paremologic and cognitivistic analysis will allow us to look at the world featured on those sheets over hundred years ago.
