Parish pastoral councils – joint responsibility of the laity for the parish community

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to show the importance of parish pastoral councils (PPC) in the implementation of the Church’s evangelising mission, which is expressed by influencing the shape and effectiveness of parish pastoral care. Accordingly, within the paradigm of pastoral-theological analysis, the article first shows the role of PPC in the light of Church teaching. It then presents what, based on research, is the image of the PPC in Poland. The article ends with conclusions and pastoral imperatives for the PPC to become a real and fruitful structure of joint responsibility of the laity for the mission of the parish community.
