Summary/Abstract: Dr. Maria Dudash's new research is intended not only for linguists, but also for a wider audience. The theoretical section offers an overview of the types of phraseological units, pays special attention to the basic concept of “equivalence” and defines its various manifestations. The main section presents an in-depth comparative analysis of Hungarian and Bulgarian phraseology. It focuses on several main themes that delineate notions of man and his place in the world (colors, man, feelings, fire) as well as some of their contemporary dimensions (sports, ethnic stereotypes).
