Summary/Abstract: Regulation 1346/2000 will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of cross-border bankruptcy proceedings. It will also increase the volume of collection of funds into the bankruptcy estate as well as other funds available to bankruptcy trustees. Some of its parts will create the need for new domestic instruments, especially those concerning the procedure for opening secondary proceedings, translation of forms and certificates of debts as well as for informing creditors. In the present, there are fewer and fewer large bankruptcies that do not exceed the borders of a single state. Therefore, Regulation 1346/2000 will become an important framework for bankruptcy practitioners and all those affected by loans and other economic transactions that cross national borders.
