Summary/Abstract: The present article discusses the problem of the child as a valuable entity with certain rights as a family member, an institutional pupil and a citizen of a democratic society. Here we refer to the basic documents which regulate every child's rights and define her as an object /recipient/ and a subject /possessor/ of rights. The author believes that children deprived of parental care have a right to humane education and education in humanity provided by their tutors at institutional homes. Most importantly, pedagogues ought to create an appropriate and socially positive environment for the development, upbringing and education of children accommodated in specialized institutions. Such care is vital for the proper emotional, mental and social development of the young generation, its integration and social inclusion.
