Summary/Abstract: The study presents the correspondence (approx. 200 letters) during the years 1896-1897 send by Michael Fuss, a future professor of the Theological Evangelic Seminar in Sibiu, from Teheran to his mother, who lived in Sibiu. Born on the 14th of January 1870 in Sibiu, Michael Fuss attended the lectures of the Theological Faculty in Tübingen. At the age of 16 he entered the service of baron Eperyesy, who just then had been appointed ambassador in Teheran of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Michael Fuss accompanied the ambassador to Iran being the tutor of the ambassador’s two children, Arpad and Ilona. The letters of Michael Fuss remained unpublished until today; the present study is the first analyses of these documents. They are a valuable source of documentation, because the East is seen with the eyes of a Westerner.
