Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a research on the presence of derivation and compounding in the maritime words used in the specialized Romanian and Italian serial publications. The study focuses on the articles found in four representative maritime magazines, Marina Romana and Marea Noastra for the Romanian corpus and Rivista Marittima and Lega Navale for the Italian one.
