Summary/Abstract: Language biographies can be used for multiple purposes: sociolinguistics, linguistics and didactics. In didactics, we can use these types of texts for evaluation because they allow us and our students to have a better perspective on their level and on how we should improve out methods so the teaching process becomes better for our students. Language biographies are not just for summative assessment, they can be used as formative assessment, in which we use the results in formation, learning and improving the language acquisition. Language biographies are written by the student who presents his learning path, so we could use the term of autobiographies. The activities that we can use in order to create them have to be adapted to our group, each group has its special needs and it is important to choose wisely the type of activity we want to use. We can ask our students to write texts about their process, they can respond to an interview or they can have a group activity with their colleagues in which one of them presents how he learned the language. Being an instrument for evaluation, we can use the framework given by The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, used to describe achievements of learners of foreign languages.
