Summary/Abstract: One of the notable cultural figures of Bukovina during the early 20th century was the Chernivtsi professor Vasile Gherasim, renowned during his time for his philosophical, literary and poetical pursuits. His philosophical ideas focus, essentially, on the attempt to create a Romanian philosophy. To achieve this, the author goes through the history of philosophy, in order to show how the ethnic factor has influenced the birth of certain philosophical concepts. His analysis of the main contemporary philosophical trends has shown a particular sympathy toward the orientation known as the philosophy of life and, especially, toward Bergson’s intuitionism.
