Summary/Abstract: In the language of Maramureş, so in the northern end of the Romanian area, we had a series of archaisms of Latin origin, archaisms that were actually fossilized Latinos and preserved intact in the deep layers of the language, many of which are found in the text Vulgate. Where do these words come from? Have they been taken from the language of the Holy Book, which drops daily in the unknowing book's ears? Or are they coming from other, secular and accidental sources? We have selected here only a few such archaisms, performed in Maramures by the elderly people three to four decades ago, words that are also found in the Sacred Vulgata Biblie, as it was translated from Greek into Latin by the Holy Jerome, at the end of the sec. the fourth after Christ.
