Tactile experience of transsexual corporeality. The character’s experiences and the psychosomatic stings of the recipient

Summary/Abstract: While examining the bodily experiences of the transsexual character during the process of gender correction the author of the article puts forward the thesis about the possibility of intuitive, emotional and tactile approach to his somatic experiences. In film recognitions she refers to: Murray Smith’s cognitive theory of emotions, senses simultaneity (Juhani Pallasmaa), understanding of movies as a tangible experience (Thomas Elsaesser, Malte Hagener, Vivian Sobchack). Among others the author uses a parallel between the transcharacter’s body and the performance to provoke the viewer to a more emotional approach in which psychosomatic stings, empathy, haptic imagination play a key role.
