The auratic adaptation. The artistic endeavors and a theoretical attempt

Summary/Abstract: The text aims at depicting a problem of adaptations of past times and their aura, textual realizations of today in their relation to artistic conventions that belong to the past, yet show permanence in the contemporary artistic practices. As the examples of the so-called auratic adaptations the text points at Jane Campion’s The Piano, Alan Moore’s and Kevin O’Neil’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Robert Egger’s The Lighthouse and the character of their relation to some themes and problems of the 19-century formation is a point of departure for a consideration of practices of adapting and transforming the 19th century in the contemporary fiction.
