Summary/Abstract: The Vocalic Sequence –UI. Some Parallel Romance Iconicities. Following investigations and previous results (Timoc-Bardy, 1999, 2009), this paper examines the functioning of the vocalic hierarchy as a full syntagmatic trajectory ui, especially in two situations: the Romanian verbal suffix -ui and the Romance pronominal inflection -ui, preferred in Vulgar Latin, between which, iconic parallels are established. On this basis, more relevant solutions can be proposed for grammatical etymologies that have been insufficiently or not at all clarified (the Romanian secondary verbal suffixes - ui, - ăi, -ei, - âi, the popular form lu of the dative of the preposed definite article, for example).
