Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to critically analyze the concept of educational freedom within the context of freedom and democracy as a value and their manifestation. It is an exemplification of the phenomena that is connected with the ongoing educational and social changes. Supervised freedom, elitist freedom or simulated freedom without critical reflection and awareness of their consequences may significantly reduce the quality of education and in consequence weaken the entire educational system and the level of a democratic society.
