Summary/Abstract: The text deals with three aspects of values, treated as indicating dimensions of their presence in human life and activity: cultural, social and individual. The basic examples are linked with conceptions of Helena Radlińska, Polish well-known social pedagogue as well as worldwide known father of sociology of education and biographic methods Florian Znaniecki. The author is practicing the approach defined in his monographic books as ‘applied humanities’ and he shows a number of implications stemming from his readings of various conceptions based on psychology, sociology, literary studies, philosophy, including M. Bakhtin, Z. Bauman, E.H. Erikson, J. Habermas, H. Hesse and others. He applies in particular the concept of ‘duality turnover’ and the ‘metapatterns’ transformations. The text postulates revising the approach to tradition of humanities with the concern about intergenerational gaps in reading and applying of basic concepts which have to be treated in a much more integral and transversal manner.
