Summary/Abstract: Humanity has crashed into a reality it was not prepared for; therefore, it needs to find ways to make those events explicit and eventually communicate them. This has enforced the need for creating numerous linguistic elements that could most adequately signify the extralinguistic phenomena. This paper tries to present such newly established linguistic phenomena during the COVID-19 pandemic in several discussion areas – medicine, science, mass media, and daily life. The focus is mainly on the modes by which those social areas try to communicate their messages in the public sphere. The article is based on research on Bulgarian and Slovak online media.
