Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the manipulative use of proper names of famous people in the British tabloids 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑢𝑛 and 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐷𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑦 𝑀𝑖𝑟𝑟𝑜𝑟. The analyzed linguistic manipulative devices include: use of a forename instead of a proper name and a surname, use of an abbreviated form of a surname, use of an abbreviated name, rhythmical organization of the phrase in the headlines, use of a nickname and use of an abbreviated form of a forename.
