Summary/Abstract: Human dignity is the foundation that determines the proper relationship between man and the natural environment. Respecting it determines the proper understanding and hierarchy of pro-ecological values. These include respect for the life and health of a person, as well as sensitivity, responsibility, restraint, solidarity, work, courage to be, wisdom. Therefore, human dignity can be considered the highest pro-ecological value, and its implementation should be the basis for all activities aimed at overcoming the ecological crisis. Material and methods: Literature analysis and content selection to obtain synthesis of the discussed issues. Conclusions: Respecting human dignity and the pro-ecological values resulting from it is the best guarantee both for overcoming the ecological crisis that has arisen, as well as maintaining proper relations with the world of nature. From human dignity as the highest pro-ecological value, in addition to the above-mentioned proper hierarchy of pro-ecological values, emerges also the main pro-ecological principle, which can be defined as being someone for others.
