Summary/Abstract: The paper attempts to bring into discussion abortion, contraception and family planning problems from a gender perspective in the context of free choice maternity. It begins with a historical review of abortion, contraception and family planning, followed by ideas regarding the gender dimensions of the three discussed subjects, ending with some personal considerations on the abortion legislation in Romania. The article doesn't want to plead for abortion, but in favour of the women and couple's free and responsible decision regarding the number of children they want to have.
