Summary/Abstract: Our church even under the communist regime was a special one. Unlike other states with a communist regime, in Romania, in many cities, there was practically no street without a church on it. And no village was without a church. There was a continuity in the life of the Church, despite the communist regime. The situation of our national Church, with all the sacrifices made by the clergy, still remains the best among the Orthodox Churches in the communist countries. In the territory of the former Soviet Union, having a huge area compared to that of Romania – where there were two patriarchates (of Moscow and All Russia, respectively that of Georgia), there were fewer parishes than in our country. The flourishing of our Church in the last 30 years, the most magnificent period in the last three centuries, i.e. since the establishment of Phanariot reigns, is not a spontaneous phenomenon, but the expression of a continuity.
