Summary/Abstract: „Le pouvoir arrête le pouvoir”, said Montesquieu. In recent years, the difficulties in achieving parliamentary majorities in Romania have created political imbalances, instability and even governmental crises. The Constitutional Court of Romania has played a major role in resolving the many legal conflicts – of a constitutional nature – between the three actors of the constitutional life: the parliament, the president and the government. This study is an analysis of how the Constitutional Court managed both to provide the state powers with a balance and to bring stability to the constitutional life. The parliamentary atomisation often creates instability or leads to the formation of unsuitable governance formulas in terms of political ideology, electoral or governance programmes, and this triggers confusion and insecurity among the people.
