Summary/Abstract: The unique Latin-Croatian bilingualism of the homiletic collection Testimonium bilabium («Two-lip Testimony», Venice 1755) of the Bosnian Franciscan Filip Lastrić (1700- 1783) allows us to observe concretely how the Latin homiletic practice flowed into the Illyric one. In this way, the Europe-inspired literary engagement (as a specific Bosnian contribution to the literary republic) accepted the challenge of reshaping the matter in the local language for preachers’ advantage. In this contribution I tried to classify the translation procedures the author applied in the Slavo-Bosnian transposition of the Latin homily on St. John Evangelist. The exemplarity of Latin and the communicative intention of the textual stream result in a wide spread of solutions, from maximal adherence to Latin in the sententiae to free paraphrases and differentiations from the original, particularly in the warm passages where the preacher directly addresses his hearers/readers or the homily characters.
