Late Returns: Elena Niculiță-Voronca and Mihai Lupescu

Summary/Abstract: 2022, among other celebrations, marked 160 years since the birth of the Romanian ethnographer Elena Niculiță-Voronca and a century since the death of Romanian ethnographer Mihai Lupescu. The two researchers' activity is important both for understanding the historical, political and cultural context of the region and for understanding the evolution of Romanian ethnology as a whole. The current survey of the works of Elena Niculiță-Voronca and Mihai Lupescu needs to be transformed, due to the posthumous publication of some of their papers and the changing reception of their writings.
