Summary/Abstract: The study From the history of private education in Austrian Bucovina. Hebrew Gymnasium in Storojineţ (1906-1918) presents the steps made by Hebrew community in Storojineţ in establishing the first private gymnasium in Habsburg Bucovina, its organization and functionig during 1906-1918, and the activities circumscribed to the educational process, opened mainly to teach pupils of different religious beliefs. The right of publicity offered by the Ministry of Cults and Education gave to the middle school students the opportunity to complete their studies by obtaining the certificate of maturity that allowed them access to higher education. By teaching done in the private Real Gymnasium Storojineţ, an important contribution to training young Hebrew was made and hence the development of education, promoting tolerance and intercultural dialogue between populations of different confessions existing in the duchy of Bukovina, as this institute was attended by students of Roman-Catholic, Greek-Catholic, Greek-Oriental and Evangelical religion.
