Summary/Abstract: Audio recordings are an important support for the language teacher, being a special contribution to the process of learning the correct pronunciation of the foreign language. As the practice of teaching with audio materials shows, one should not expect much from a self-correction of learners. Research has confirmed that errors in the intonation and articulation of learners are corrected only to a very small extent with the help of magnetic tapes, audio cassettes or CDs. The active contribution of the teacher, the constant correction of the students' mistakes, the active contact with the class are basic conditions for achieving the teaching objective. Although it can be concluded that the form of error control in pronunciation exercises is best done by the teacher, he should not give up on audio recordings, since the student must be offered authentic speech patterns.
