Support for a Child after the Loss of a Loved One in the School Environment

Summary/Abstract: The article presents children’s grief after the loss of a loved one. It describes the factors that affect their understanding of the reality and consequences of death, as well as the psychosomatic reactions that arise because of mourning. It emphasizes the importance of the social environment, especially the school environment, during bereavement. The purpose of the article is to present specific methodological guidelines for pedagogical and school professionals, through which they facilitate the grieving process of the child and thus significantly help prevent complications with the need for intervention.
