Summary/Abstract: On September 26, 1948 the inhabitants of the Tomșani and Loloiasca communes, the Prahova County, rose against the plans devised by the authorities to confiscate their lands in order to set up collective farms. Following the Soviet example, in Romania the huge land properties were abolished first and the communist party activists worked to convince the small and medium owners of the “advantages” brought about by collective farming.
