Summary/Abstract: The Legionary Movement underwent, after August 23, 1944, a process of organizational restructuring and strategic and ideological reorientation. Nicolae Pătrașcu, former secretary general of the Legion, parachuted in Romania with orders from Hitler and Horia Sima to organize and lead the military anti-communist resistance, was arrested and he signed a political cooperation agreement with the Communist Party of Romania; Teohari Georgescu, the then minister of the interior, was the intermediary, meeting half-way the intentions of an important, Legionary group that had been seeking for a long time a significant rapprochement to the communists. Its purpose was the integration of Legionaries into the communist party.
