FOREIGN MILITARY BASES OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AS AN ELEMENT OF DOMINATION AND THREATS

Summary/Abstract: While rebuilding its international position, the Russian Federation consistently mainta- ins the military bases that remained after the collapse of the Soviet Union and creates new bases allowing it to play a key role in a given region. The subject of research in this paper is the role of the military bases of the Russian Federation on its influence and domination in individual regions of the world. The aim of the study is to present the strengthening of the Russian Federation’s foreign military bases as well as the creation of new ones and their impact on the superpower role of this country. In connection with the subject and the aim of the research, the main research problem arose, which was expressed in the form of the following question: What is the significance of foreign Russian military bases for international politics and their influence on increasing the su- perpower role of the Russian Federation in the world? The search for scientific solutions in relation to a specific main research problem required the adoption and resolution of specific research problems: 1) How did the geopolitical conditions of the Russian Fede- ration influence the maintenance and expansion of foreign military bases? 2) How does the Russian Federation use its bases to implement its international policy? 3) What are the plans of the Russian Federation to expand foreign military bases? The conducted preliminary research, the specific research goal and research problems determined the main hypothesis adopted for the purpose of the research: The possessed and planned foreign military bases are an efficient military tool of the Russian Federation in the im- plementation of its international strategic, political, military and economic goals. The available materials were verified by analyzing and criticizing the available literature on the subject and facts from the latest press releases.
