Summary/Abstract: The article examines some questions regarding the initial eparchial division of the Bulgarian Church. An attitude is taken, both on the issue of the localization and identification of some of the dioceses soon after the Christianisation of Bulgaria, and on the question of control over them. The existing ideas in the historiography about direct control of the Patriarchate of Constantinople over part of the Bulgarian dioceses are rejected.
