Which Way Out of Myself? Sketches for the Audiobiography of Miron Bialoszewski

Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author analyses a collection of tape recordings digitized by the Museum of Literature in Warsaw and donated to this institution by Jadwiga Stańczakowa. The aim of the article is an attempt to answer the question to what extent the voice of Białoszewski reading and recording Tajny dziennik [The Secret Diary] on a tape recorder can be treated as a medium of autobiography. The main subject of this analysis is, above all, whether listening to this autobiography of Białoszewski remodels in a significant way things we already know well from the writer’s notes and what new contents it allows us to discover, especially the silent or non-verbalized ones.
