Summary/Abstract: Modifications or variations of phraseologisms are increasingly becoming the new research paradigm in linguistics. The case study discussed here is only one of its kind. The question is, however, whether phraseologisms can actually be modified or altered if the constancy of their formal and/or lexical elements is still to be regarded as decisive for definition. This review article argues that the traditional standing phrases should remain untouched. According to CHLEBDA (2020), they represent a “stock of linguistic world views” that should serve the up-to-date development of new linguistic images. Thus, to take an example from CZYŻEWSKA (2011), the phrase "Berge versetzen" (to move mountains) still remains intact as a foil for a new questioning of the world. In the past, it was the giants who dabbled in this for the sake of demonstrating their strength. Now there is always a business behind it: "If you move mountains today, it’s more likely because they hide gold [or uranium...]".
