Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the origins and proceedings of the Kashubian convention which took place in Bytów on May 18, 1958, marking the beginning of a commemoration of the struggle by indigenous Kashubians against Germanization in the Weimar Republic and the Third Reich. In later years, the traditions of the Union of Poles in Germany were a constant presence in West Pomeranian government propaganda, as they justified the widely proclaimed view of the eternal Polishness of West Pomerania. They were also an important argument in the fight against the territorial revisionism of the Federal Republic of Germany.
