Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to offer a perspective upon ESP research landscape and practices in their recent orientations and not only. Insights on discourse and genre analysis as well as theories of constructivism, Giddens` Structuration theory or Van Lier`s ecological perspective represent the various approaches that ESP has adopted along the way from the exploration of product - oriented learning to the acquisition of process - oriented skills. Under the pressure of a continually evolving world where technology has made its way into the teaching of specialized languages, new trends have appeared which favor the process of knowledge acquisition through learning new skills within constantly changing environments.
