Summary/Abstract: The issue of disadvantaged persons has, over recent years, been discussed relatively intensely often in parallel with the problem of employing such people in the open labour market. Persons who fall into this group do not necessarily suffer from disability, but may have other problems in their lives that render them unable to integrate into society and to secure employment that would provide them with the appropriate standard of living. They may be single mothers, released prisoners or individuals who have been dependent on addictive substances for part of their lives, etc. However, they also include those who suffer from some kind of disability - physical, visual or hearing impairment, mental disability or those suffering from mental illnesses. Persons suffering from any form of disability require special working conditions over and above those of regular employees in order to perform their work. The creation of protected work positions for people with disabilities, which is becoming increasingly common, provides such people with the opportunity to integrate into mainstream society and to obtain the experience necessary in order to enjoy a meaningful life.
