Summary/Abstract: For the general public, the term non-profit organisation may be misleading in the sense that they assume that no profit is generated. However, non-profit organisations may accrue a profit, the difference being that the profit must not be taken by the founder or be divided between the employees but must be invested back into the organisation, its development and mission. Thus, in the non-profit sector finance is not the primary aim of its employees, rather profit in this sense has an ethical dimension involving changing the attitudes or behaviour of individuals or society.
