Summary/Abstract: In addition to speaking, listening, and reading, writing represents a very important skill that needs to be given special attention. The paper will focus on some theoretical aspects that have to be taken into consideration when teaching writing; the second part of the paper will refer to the principles of effective writing in the academic environment and last, but not least, the focus will be on the main challenges associated with teaching writing-based classes.
