Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the various social and economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. It emphasises that the consequences of the pandemic are calling into question the neoliberal globally-applied model of economic development. According to the author, it is necessary to redefine the role of the state and to strengthen the performance of crisis management. Moreover, the author suggests that the Czech Republic should use the impulse of the coronavirus pandemic to abandon the model of an economy based on cheap labour and weak social standards.
