Is the prioritisation of the implementation of Industry 4.0 potentially self-defeating?

Summary/Abstract: The article considers three potential scenarios of the impacts of Industry 4.0 on the labour market, social dialogue and social systems against the background of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The author first presents a scenario according to which there will be a balance between job losses and the creation of new job positions. The second and most probable scenario indicates a tolerably negative labour market balance, while the final, catastrophic, variant would mean the expulsion of the greater part of the labour force from the labour market and the resulting consequences.
