Summary/Abstract: The report presents an overview and a material with information nature concerning certain matters about the characterization, status and opportunities for development of balneological tourism in Bulgaria. A comprehensive analysis of balneological tourism in Bulgaria and commenting on the discussions on its definition, characteristics, basic elements of its tourism product and market were exposed. The best conditions and opportunities for the development of this alternative form of tourism were shown. The emphasis was on the climatic and balneological resources in Bulgaria and tourist interest in the product of spa tourism.
