Summary/Abstract: This article presents some fundamental problems of the nature of the constitution as a key element of the political system. The functional characteristics of the constitution based upon the historical overview of its emergence and evolution are considered. It is also performed and a common feature of the concept of „constitution“ of politological viewpoint.
