Summary/Abstract: The development of social services, and by extension care services, is influenced by a whole series of factors - demographic, socioeconomic and socio-political - whose importance changes depending on the specific historical conditions of individual regions. The main aim of the research was therefore to identify the relationship between selected aspects of the care service. The development of social services, and by extension care services, is influenced by a whole series of factors - demographic, socioeconomic and socio-political - whose importance changes depending on the specific historical conditions of individual regions. The main aim of the research was therefore to identify the relationship between selected aspects of the care service (territorial profile, legislative change and profile of the organisation providing the care service) and its development (increase in the number of users, increased use of care actions, development of the time and territorial availability of the service and improvement in the standard of the provided services). Quantitative methods, aided by secondary data analysis (eight parameters covering a period of thirteen years were assessed) and survey work, were used to describe and analyse the dependency rate of variables. Accordingly, a non-standardised questionnaire was created for the research and data gathering requirements. The questionnaire was intended for care services staff in the Czech Republic. 392 respondents, i.e. 38% of all contacted, took part in the survey. The survey results reveal that right across the Czech Republic there is strong diversity of correlations between selected characteristics of the territorial profile and the number of care service users. Even so, several shared characteristics of the territorial profile influencing the development of care services in this country were identified. Statistically significant links were demonstrated between the number of care service users and the number of persons aged over 65, the population density, divorce rate and unemployment rate, the number of users receiving selected outpatient, field and residential social services for seniors and persons with reduced self-sufficiency, the number of users receiving health care in the home, and the number of beneficiaries of a care allowance and the number of municipalities providing a care service in the various regions of the Czech Republic. It was demonstrated that primarily church or regional care service organisations provide greater territorial availability of the service and more often ensure that services are available at more times.
