Summary/Abstract: The contribution of Thomas Kuhn is technical and it becomes clearer and more accurately interpreted in the perspective of epistemological idealism. For Thomas Kuhn, there is an essential distinction (and an “essential tension” for the development of knowledge) between innovative, and obviously, creative science and mainstream science, science with authority – established, accepted and legitimized as such „scientific” and „objective”. However, approaching these terms against the backgrounds of the history of science, they become nuanced and in certain views, relativized. Traditions such as the one established by Carnap or perspectives such as the “internal realism” described by Hilary Putnam or the “network of trusts” used by the physicist W.V. Quine, nevertheless, give legitimizing nuances to epistemological idealism today and place as well in a more correct and serious light the contribution of Thomas Kuhn. The accent of the investigation is placed on the notion of paradigm, a valuable concept, devalued by its fame and glory, by a too loose cultural approach, as well as by the misunderstanding of the implications, place and considerable role of the epistemological idealism in contemporary philosophy of science.
