Summary/Abstract: This article analyses the theory formulated by Leszek Kolakowski about the relationship between civil society and the state, as a central idea in his critique of Marxism. In accordance with Polish thinker’s theory, the Marxist perspective about political and human emancipation contains the seeds of despotism by carrying on reasons for the annihilation of civil society by a totalitarian state, which claims to achieve the complete unification of human nature. In this perspective we have entitled our article „The dichotomy civil society vs. totalitarian ideology to Leszek Kolakowski”.
