Adult Education - An instrument of socio-economic development

Summary/Abstract: The paper considers possibilities to reach and fulfill, through adult education, goals and guidelines emphasized in the key international documents (Millennium goals, Copenhagen and Lisabon processes) in Serbia, so that it can become a partner and equal participant in an interdependent world, and especially in the EU, as its cultural, economic and political environment. Based on the analysis of primary indicators of social and economic development and the state of the secondary vocational education system and adult education, priorities were defined in the field of adult education policy, with a goal to promote the development potential of adult education and transform it in an efficient instrument of socio-economic development in Serbia.
