Summary/Abstract: In the wider context of the policy for the circular bioeconomy in Europe - essential for achieving the climate objectives of the European Union, which involves abandoning the use of non-renewable raw materials and fossil minerals and replacing them with renewable raw materials, but in which the efficiency of the approach is in direct correlation with the judicious use of renewable raw materials, their overexploitation being likely to spoil the process - the approach to the management of wood waste can only be integrated starting from the moment of their production and up to the moment of their use or neutralization. For these reasons, the author critically analyzes Government Decision no. 2.293/2004 regarding the management of waste resulting from the process of obtaining wood materials, published in M. Of. of Romania, part I, no. 1.261 of December 28, 2004, with subsequent amendments and additions. Particular attention is paid to the notions of "wooden waste", "wooden waste owner", "land owner" and "management", the obligations regarding wood waste, as well as to the institution of legal liability for non-compliance with the regulations regarding waste management resulting from the process of obtaining wood materials. As a result of the general conclusion of the paper regarding the need for a better correlation of the provisions of the forestry legislation with the waste legislation, the author issues a suite of de lege ferenda proposals.
