The names of supernatural beings in contemporary Polish with particular emphasis on the Slavic heritage (on the material of Polish Academy of Sciences Great Dictionary of Polish)

Summary/Abstract: The topic of the article are the names of supernatural beings found in contemporary Polish. The research material comes from the Polish Academy of Sciences Great Dictionary of Polish. The author discusses the cultural affiliation of lexical units, their metaphorical meanings and axiological characterization. The analysis of the semantic field proved that it is dominated by native Slavic and Polish beliefs, as well as the Christian and ancient traditions.
